With the obsession with weight loss and body slimming that is advertised in the media, on television shows, and in books, it is difficult not to get caught up in the fad diets and new pharmaceutical drugs that are being advertised constantly. Living in America alone puts many people at risk for being overweight because more than 50 percent of Americans are markedly overweight or obese. The obsession with being thin is becoming an increasingly large problem, as natural weight loss seems to be less of an option, and crash dieting and dangerous pharmaceuticals are becoming the norm. Despite recent discoveries of ways to lose weight quickly and often times dangerously, the basics of natural weight loss have proven effective throughout countless years of study.

In the following paragraphs, you will find information regarding the cardinal rule of dieting; burn more calories than you consume the balance of diet and exercise, and the effectiveness of portion control and following the food pyramid.

Balancing Diet and Exercise for Natural Weight Loss

Natural weight loss begins with the cardinal rule of burning more calories than you consume. This principle works with everyone, but few people seem to follow it. There are various ways to make sure you are burning more calories than you take in. This does not mean that your portions have to be cut down considerably or that you have to spend your time running everywhere, it simply means that you need to balance the two accordingly. If you work at a desk all day, and the most exercise you get is getting up to get your lunch, you should limit the amount of calories you take in, as you aren’t getting much exercise to burn the calories you take in.

If you are active on a daily basis, you can increase your caloric intake by eating higher calorie foods (watch out for empty calories) that are healthy, such as rice and pasta. There are many online calculators that will help you determine your likely caloric output, and thus you can adjust your schedule accordingly.

Watching Portions: Crucial for Natural Weight Loss

Living in America, eating out at restaurants and taking a plate in front of you as a serving, can be detrimental to weight loss. On the average, most restaurant servings consist of three to five servings of food, especially when it comes to pasta, rice and French fries. The government has come up with a food pyramid guideline to help with determining how much food an average person needs in order to maintain a healthy weight. They balance out carbohydrates, proteins, dairy, vegetables, fruit and fat.

Portion control is as crucial as what you eat, especially when it comes to carbohydrate and fat. People make mistakes with pasta, rice and bread as often each “serving” contains several servings, and hence a person ends up eating way too much.

Another thing that people should keep in mind is that low fat doesn’t necessarily mean low calorie. Calories, fat and sugar are often substituted for one another when one ingredient is cut out, so that should be a consideration when decided what and how much to eat.

There are many foods that one may eat to lose weight and, of them, apple cider vinegar is one such that helps to detoxify the liver, which in turn is important for weight loss. Historically, the Egyptians were known to have consumed apple cider vinegar for weight loss. It is also claimed by some that apple cider vinegar helps speed up the metabolism while others think it burns up calories to reduce appetite. As a weight loss food, one may only need two teaspoons of apple cider vinegar that can be mixed in water and taken before a meal. Another way that a weight loss food can help in losing weight is by fasting on juices, which will benefit the overweight person by speeding up weight loss by as much as three to four pounds per day. Other advantages of juice fasting are that it boosts the self-confidence of the person and helps them bring discipline into their lives. Juice fasting acts as a catalyst in overhauling the lifestyle and, results may be seen in better dressing, showing more confidence as well as becoming better organized and being more at peace.

Calories Are Everywhere

Many people consider juice fasting to be a last ditch effort to loss stubborn extra weight. Other weight loss food diets may give short-term gains that are then followed by a feeding frenzy that only ends up in putting on weight once again. Juice fasting will help in the fight against addiction to food. There are also negative calorie foods that can constitute a person’s weight loss food. These foods are those that use more calories to digest than are contained in the foods that one eats.

Weight loss food such as negative calorie foods will have calories that are very hard for the body to breakdown and process and so, the body needs to work much harder to extract calories from such foods which will provide a significant natural fat-burning benefit. So, a food with 100 calories that requires 150 calories to digest would result in 50 extra calories being burnt, which would help shed weight.

The real benefit of eating weight loss foods such as negative calorie foods is that there is increased enzymes being produced that are absorbed through the mucosa in the small intestine, which will cause them to enter the bloodstream and, thus positively effect the metabolism rate. However, such a weight loss food should not be taken in conjunction with foods that contain empty calories such as junk food and, thus ensures optimum amounts of enzymes being produced for absorption into the bloodstream.
